Longest fart joke in history: Daniel Radcliffe Did a Movie That Was Wildly Different from Harr

The name Daniel Radcliffe is one audiences relate with magic and madness. Having played the titular character of Harry Potter in the movie adaptation of JK Rowling’s novels for the better part of a decade, Radcliffe has amazed audiences with his acting as well as charm. From a child actor to now, the 34-year-old has made his mark in the movie industry with various movies.

But there is one movie that evokes very divided emotions from fans. The A24 movie Swiss Army Man (previously, Swiss Army Knife) starring Radcliffe and Paul Dano was released in 2016 by the Daniels (of EEAAO fame). The Oscar-winning writer-director duo gave audiences a movie that was certainly different from what they would have expected when they walked into the theater.

Swiss Army Man Caused Mass Walkouts

The 2016 movie saw Daniel Radcliffe play a farting corpse. And no, we are not kidding! The movie follows Hank, played by Paul Dano, who finds himself on a deserted island. He sees no way to escape the island and thinks of ending his suffering. That is when he finds a dead body nearby, played by Daniel Radcliffe, who he then uses as a raft to get to the mainland.

Radcliffe’s corpse is a little different than your usual dead bodies. It talks and farts, and that is where it gets a little disturbing for the audience. As a user on Twitter says, the movie feels like “the longest fart joke in history,” which is not a label you’d want for something you’ve shed your blood, sweat, and tears for. But that’s exactly what happened as the movie caused mass walkouts when it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.

Daniel Radcliffe Is More Than Just Harry Potter

Daniel Radcliffe played Harry Potter for half his career. But he is more than just The Chosen One. The actor has dipped his toes in different platforms – from movies to TV shows to theater, he has done it all. And given the kind of influence he has had since his childhood in the form of Alan Rickman, Michael Gambon, Gary Oldman, Ralph Fiennes, etc, it is no surprise that has imbibed their dedication to craft in his own.

Swiss Army Man, which, even after mass walkouts and disturbing audiences, received pretty decent ratings with a 73% Rotten Tomatoes score. He also was the kwad star of the TV show Miracle Workers, which ran for four seasons, until 2023. He was also part of the play Merrily We Roll Along, which recently ended its run on Broadway. Currently, the actor is busy lending his voice to the American apocalyptic sitcom, Mulligan, which airs on Netflix.
